The Cercle Frédéric Bastiat has two missions :
It does this through conferences, meetings - chiefly in the form of "dinner-debates", - and publications - mainly in the form of a bulletin developing the key ideas debated during meetings. The Cercle has an educational - i.e. non polemical - purpose.
The Cercle is independent of political parties. It does not receive any subsidy. Its only resources are the subscriptions paid by its members. The subscription amounts to 30 Euros per family and per year. It entitles them to receive the bulletin. To join, one only has to send one's address, phone number and e-mail address to :
Cercle Frédéric Bastiat, 40320 Saint-Loubouertogether with a cheque for 30 Euros.
The Cercle is very open. There is no condition for membership other than paying the subscription. The members have a wide variety of occupations, revenues, and levels of education. This said, it should be noted that they have two characteristics in common : a sense of responsibility, and intellectual curiosity.
However proud we may be of having some foreign members, there is little point in joining the Cercle if you do not read French - other than to express support - since all our activities are held in French, with the exception of some conferences generally available on this website. We did organize an international congress in English for the bicentennial of Bastiat's birth, but then, of course, one did not have to be a member of the Cercle in order to attend.
