Gilbert Fournier
Gilbert Fournier used to be
a farmer. Nowadays he is a property developer and has built industrial and
commercial premises.
Gilbert Fournier is the
founder and president of the Frédéric Bastiat Circle of Grenoble, the first Frédéric Bastiat Circle in France, predating ours by several years. A
great admirer of Bastiat, he is (along with our board member Jean-Claude
Paul-Dejean) one of France’s leading experts on our
author. In an outbuilding of his house he has set up a real little museum about
Bastiat. It was from this museum that he took a number of engravings that he
showed in Aix-en-Provence for 2001 summer university, then in the autumn in
Paris for the launch of the book by our friend Jacques Garello Aimez-vous Bastiat?, two events at which
our Circle was of course represented. This was the exhibition he presented in
Dax on 16 February 2002 for the General Meeting of the Société de Borda, the prestigious historical society of the
department of the Landes.
Gilbert Fournier kindly
agreed to speak at the dinner-debate held on 16 February 2002 on the subject "Examples of Minimal
State".
